The Mind of Christ (James 3:17)
Sunday Apr 27, 2025
Sunday Apr 27, 2025
In James 3:17, the wisdom from above is first pure. The word pure in English means a great many things to many people . It could mean anything from clean to untarnished or uncontaminated. However in Greek the word for pure/holy is Hagios . This means to be set apart for special use . Pure is mentioned 40 times in scripture. To pursue the mind of Christ is first to pursue Purity, the likeness and nature of God. Let us take a look at scripture to see what it has to say about purity and the mind of Christ . . .

Palm Sunday or the Gateway to the Greatest Thing Ever Accomplished?
Sunday Apr 13, 2025
Sunday Apr 13, 2025
This week is called Palm Sunday because of the Triumphal Entry of Jesus on the donkey. At first glance, it seems that Palm Sunday is a big deal because of Jesus's entrance. It, in fact, marks the start of the greatest week of Jesus's life and ministry. Most would limit it just to the crucifixion, which is extremely important. However, if you look closer at this week, you may find that the greatest thing He ever did for us had more to do with what was done to Him instead of what He chose to do himself. He went from moving freely in power to being the victim and having to be the one enduring others effects on Him. Let's take a closer look at why this was so powerful, and how this can further transform our perspective of who Jesus is and what He did for all of us.

Having the mind of Christ (You are your thoughts)
Sunday Apr 06, 2025
Sunday Apr 06, 2025
In the middle of death, heartache, and destruction how is it possible to display the characteristics of Christ? Part of having the mind of Christ is having the fruit of those characteristics. In order to not allow your thoughts to stay in the flesh and ruminate on the things around you, its import to fill your mind with the word of the Lord. If the enemy knows the word and can quote and distort it to deceive us , how then do we truly have the mind of Christ and bear good fruit? Lets look at the word and see what the Lord has to say and what he did when the enemy tempted him and used scripture against him . . . .

The Mind of Christ and Your Perspective
Sunday Mar 09, 2025
Sunday Mar 09, 2025
The mind of Christ has a lot to do with your perspective. How do you view yourself and the ones around you? Having the mind of Christ means having His perspective of yourself, others, as well as the events in our life and the part we play in them. Many factors can affect how we perceive things, what we think of God, what we think of ourselves, as well as past trauma. Let's go to the Word to dive into what God has to say about our perspective and how He may want to change it.

Having the Mind of Christ (The Family is His Heart and On His Mind)
Sunday Mar 02, 2025
Sunday Mar 02, 2025
We oftentimes underestimate the importance of our family; our spouses, children, and parents. To understand that the fruit of the womb is both a blessing and our primary ministry and calling. To have the mind of Christ is to love like Christ, but first, that means our families. It would seem we often get it backwards and look outward for ministry, and make loving others our main focus. We run to other countries and build ministries that leave our first calling, our families, lacking. How can we love like Christ if we're not truly "present" for them? How can we have His mind and "be" love when we often forsake our first ministry and chase another? Let's look at what the Lord has to say about this.

Think the Thoughts of Christ
Sunday Mar 02, 2025
Sunday Mar 02, 2025
How do we think the thoughts of Christ? To put on the mind of Christ is to put on love. Love is both a noun and a verb. So, what is the difference between the two? To be or to do? It is a good and right thing to "practice" love, but a different thing entirely to "be" love. A right relationship with God produces the noun. When you only practice love like a verb without becoming love, you can easily turn into a Pharisee. Clearly love is a two-part process. Let's take a look and see what the Word says about this process in our lives.

Putting on the Mind of Christ in Love ("Loving from a Place of Brokenness")
Sunday Feb 16, 2025
Sunday Feb 16, 2025
Is perhaps on our knees in surrender and brokenness the proper starting place for seeking the mind of Christ? When we replace the word "love" in 1st Corinthians with the name of Jesus, we quickly find that walking in such a way is difficult, even when we are not broken. When we replace that word "love" with our own name, our shortcomings are painfully obvious. The mind of Christ is simply...love. God is love, so in order to have the mind of Christ, we must love as He does. How do we turn our pain and brokenness into the mind of Christ? How do we become love when we find ourselves crippled by trauma? Let's take a look at what the Word says, not only about love, but also about what that should look like.

Putting on the Mind of Christ in Love ("Love is a Verb")
Sunday Feb 09, 2025
Sunday Feb 09, 2025
In continuing our study on how to put on the mind of Christ in love, we are looking at 1 Corinthians 13 and it's description of what love is and what love is not. Today's sermon focuses on verses 4 and 5 and what love is not. Love "is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil." So, what do those mean to us as believers and how can we each exhibit the love of Christ to others in these ways this week? Let's listen in...

Pursuing the Mind of Christ - (A Lesson from Proverbs)
Sunday Feb 02, 2025
Sunday Feb 02, 2025
What does it mean to pursue the "mind of Christ?" How do we do that? In today's sermon, Jeremiah uses the book of Proverbs to describe some of the building blocks of that process. The first step to having the mind of Christ comes when we have a right relationship with Him. We recognize who God is and who we are in response to that. Then, we need to get in the Word and learn from what it says. Lastly, we need to more than read, we need to obey it. Only then can we start the never-ending journey of knowledge and wisdom that Christ has called us to in pursuing Him. Let's listen to today's sermon and see what God's Word says to all of us!

Sunday Jan 19, 2025

Love - what a loaded word. It's a word that is used in so many ways and for so many things. We love cookies, we love our animals, we love the color blue. Is that the same word to describe the love of God, or the love we should show one another? Let's take a look at how we can love according to the Word. Let's go to the Word and walk through what the Lord has to say about love from 1 Corinthians 13.
