Advent #1 - The Candle of Hope (”Where Do You Place Your Hope?)

As we enter the Advent season, today's sermon focuses on the candle of hope. Pastor Anthony asks the question: "What do you place you hope in?" According to Tim Keller's book, Counterfeit Gods, the four things most people struggle placing their hope in are: Comfort, the Approval of Others, Control and Power. If we place our hope and emphasis on any or all of these things, we will find ourselves lost and lashing out to those around us when the stress of life comes. In the end, we must all choose to place our hope in one, and only one, thing; Jesus. He is our Hope, and He is THE only Hope for our world.
